Federal regulation is needed for schooling
For
The free market will only ever provide schooling for rich people
Federal regulation is needed for schooling to make sure that children with disabilities get their IEPs. Without regulations disabled children will not get an equal education.
I support federal regulation of education primarily to ensure that funding is tracked fairly and that federal grant money actually reaches the schools and communities that need it most. I don't want Washington micromanaging every classroom or dictating how every school operates; I want a national framework for accountability, transparency, and equitable distribution of resources so that students' opportunities aren't determined by how wealthy or well-connected their local community happens to be.
